How to open a Canadian company from Pakistan
You can own and run a Canadian corporation while living in Pakistan. The one thing to get right is where you incorporate: some places still require a director who lives in Canada, others do not. This is where to incorporate, what it costs and what you need to keep it in good standing.
Where to incorporate
- Ontario or British Columbia: no Canadian-resident director is needed, so you can be the only director
- Federal (CBCA): at least 25% of the directors must live in Canada (at least one if there are fewer than four directors)
- For an owner in Pakistan, Ontario or British Columbia is usually the practical choice
What it costs
- Our fee: $399
- Government fee at cost: Ontario about CAD 300, British Columbia CAD 350 plus CAD 30 for name approval (federal CAD 200, only with a Canadian director)
- Registered office in the province, which the law requires: $199 a year
- GST/HST registration: $49

After the company is formed
Every Canadian corporation files an annual return with its registry each year; we do it for $49 plus the government fee and remind you before it is due. GST/HST registration becomes compulsory once taxable sales pass CAD 30,000 in four consecutive calendar quarters, and you can register earlier if you want to.
Every Canadian corporation also files a T2 corporation income tax return each year, even with no income. Ask us for a quote.
